Our charity proudly funds two gaming carts for our youngest patients

It is only thanks to the generous contributions of our supporters that we are able to make a difference to patients and staff at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. 

This year, such generosity has helped us support our youngest patients at the Children’s Day Care Unit at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) through the purchase of two new gaming carts. These children are now able to enjoy playing video games, which can be a welcome distraction when they come in for tests, procedures or minor surgery.

Lewisham resident Odette visited UHL recently for a procedure for her son Jesse, aged 3. 

Odette said:

It is great that Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust’s charity has purchased these gaming carts for the children on this unit, helping to give children a positive experience when they come to hospital. Everyone at the hospital was so kind, which made our hospital appointment as stress-free as possible

Sharon Justice, UHL play specialist added: “We are so grateful that our charity purchased these gaming carts. They bring a much-welcomed distraction and entertainment to our children, making them feel less worried about their hospital visit. Our young patients are increasingly requesting digital gaming, and as a play team we are always looking for new ways to engage with them.”
