The difference you make It is only thanks to the generosity of our supporters that we are able to make a difference to patients and staff at University Hospital Lewisham, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich and at the community settings that Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust serves. What your help enables us to do Your donations have helped to fund projects making significant improvements at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust such as: Enhancing patient experience with new equipment:Our Charity makes a real difference by purchasing additional items to enhance patient experience. For example, our Charity purchased breast pumps for neo-natal wards, standalone resuscitator units suitable for neonatal units, a special cold cot for patients affected by a stillbirth to enable them to create memories with their babies as well as a ‘memories doll’ to aid training for paediatric nurses. In addition, we provided a TV and furniture for waiting areas and well as entertaining materials for our young patients. Improving patient welfare and education:Projects supported have included funding a new palliative care discharge nurse post at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a period of two years, as well as purchasing toys for the paediatrics department and warm clothes for patients leaving the hospitals. We also purchased gaming carts to help provide entertainment to our young in-patients. We also funded the 'Enchanted Garden' in University Hospital Lewisham's Children's Outpatient department. Supporting staff to deliver the best possible care:As demand for the Trust’s services continued to be high as the pandemic continued, we focused its efforts on staff wellbeing initiatives. Working with colleagues in the Trust’s Wellbeing Team, our Charity funded key initiatives such as dedicated staff psychologists to provide 1:1 sessions, as well as team workshops on themes such as resilience and work-life balance. We also continued to focus on the provision of improved facilities for staff rest areas by purchasing key items such as comfortable seating, plus kettles, crockery and cutlery. In addition, our Charity also funded a bicycle shelter for staff, reusable water bottles for all members of staff and offered a lunch for those staff working on Christmas day. Staff Wellbeing will continue to be at the forefront of our Charity’s work and is reflected in the range of ongoing projects it is supporting. Donate now
