Donation For Children's Cancer Unit We were delighted to meet with Michelle and Terri last week as they attended the Tiger ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital to present the team with a £1625 cheque to support enhancements on the unit. Michelle's son Robbie was a patient on the unit and following a competition in 2012 was the winning entry and responsible for naming Tiger ward. To celebrate Robbie's 18th birthday, Michelle held a Fundraising Ball at the Marriot Hotel in Bexleyheath raising money not only for our charity, but for other services that cared for Robbie during his treatment journey. Michelle explained- 'Tiger ward is very close to mine and my families heart. My son Robbie was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2010 during his treatment in 2012 while staying at Queen Elizabeth hospital they had a competition to name the new oncology ward. Robbie was excited and wanted to enter, immediately grabbing some pens he straight away said it should be called Tiger ward as Tigers are strong like the patients. He was so pleased he won but sadly passed away before the official naming ceremony. In October last year when Robbie would have turned 18 we held a charity ball, raising money for the Tiger ward, the Tiger Ward, and other services that cared for him during his treatment." We're so grateful to Michelle for supporting the Tiger Ward in Robbie's memory, funds raised will enhance the facilities on the Tiger Ward, by purchasing fridges for each bay on Tiger Ward for families to use while their children receive treatment. If you'd like to help us continue to support our patients and colleagues at LGT, then please consider donating, it's only with your help we can make a difference.
