On Saturday 19th October, six of our amazing colleagues and family members from the Neonatal Unit took on the impressive challenge of climbing the rigging of the iconic Cutty Sark ship in Greenwich.

Robin Capistrano- Clinical Governance manager for NICU

Louisa Mayfield- Neonatal Nursery Nurse and Discharge Planning Co-ordinator

Will Mayfield

Julia Croft- Head of Nursing and Clinical Lead for NICU

Jessica Thomas- Paediatric Consultant

An incredible total of £1,847 was raised thanks to the hard work of our brave and brilliant climbers and the generous donations from supporters.

With your donations, our Charity will be helping to improve the family room on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, QEH making it an inviting and dedicated space for our patients' families during their hospital stay ensuring our tiniest patients and their families are comfortable.

Louisa Mayfield, Neonatal Nursery Nurse and discharge planning coordinator, tells us:

"On a very rainy day, we completed the Cutty Sark rig climb. Some of the team bounded up the ropes like superheroes. Others of us were not quite so brave, but we all did it. Very proud of the whole neonatal team!

"The support we received has been completely overwhelming and we cannot thank everyone enough who sponsored us! We now have the funds to completely transform our family room on the neonatal unit which will massively enhance the well-being of all our parents with premature and sick babies on the ward.

Photos of the parents' room to follow when it is completed. A huge thank you to everyone!’’

The teams fundraising page is still open to donations- Louisa Mayfield is fundraising for Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Charity
